Technical days – Meeting with experts
On the 5th and 6th of October 2023, the technical days of the “Verd de Proximitat” project took place at the headquarters of the Association of Agricultural Engineers of Catalonia, where the first results of the project were presented. In addition, we had the participation of international experts: Dr. Rafael Fernández Cañero (University of Seville. Spain), Dr. Makram El Bachawati (University of Balamand: Lebanon), Dr. Stefano Cascone (Mediterranean University of Reggio Calabria).
Information session and olfactory tour on the green roof of Porxos d’en Xifré
On June 21, 2023, an information session was held on the VP-BCN project for users of the green roof of Porxos d’en Xifré. The research team took the opportunity to do the practical session of the training course in odour capture using the App Odourcollect and making olfactory maps with the research company ScienceforChange.
Citizen science about urban runoff water quality
During the month of April 2023 there are some citizen science activities on the contribution of green roofs to runoff water quality improvement. Some activities on the determination of water quality were conducted at green roof located on the Pérez Iborra school
Olfactory tour on the green roof of the Pérez Iborra school
On March 23, a training activity and an olfactory tour took place on the green roof of the Pérez Iborra school. The training session was conducted by Johana Burbano, odour specialist from the research company Science for Change, with which we have established a collaboration whitin the Proximity Green project with the aim of developing the indicator for the monitoring of odors in green roofs in Barcelona.
Participation in the “Biennial Ciutat Ciència 2023 – Barcelona”
Dr. Gabriel Pérez represented the Verd de Proximitat-BCN project team in the “Vespres de recerca – Envelliment i qualitat de vida” session that took place last February 23 at the Residència d’Investigadors – CSIC, in the framework of the Biennal Ciutat Ciència 2023 de Barcelona. The main researchers of the ongoing projects explained and debated with the audience the different research challenges that the projects are carrying out in Barcelona.
